Skigebieden Wallis

Wallis, maar ook Valais genoemd, ligt in het zuidwesten van Zwitserland met als hoofdstad het gezellige Sion. Er is zowel een Frans- en een Duitstalig gedeelte. De streek bestaat uit hooggebergte, met de fraaie berg Matterhorn bij Zermatt.

De skigebieden liggen aan weerszijden van het brede Rhône-dal. In het westen van de streek ligt de grootste gletsjer van Europa, de Aletschgletsjer met een lengte van 23km.

Bekende plaatsen zijn onder andere Zermatt, Saas-Fee, Verbier en Crans-Montana. Andere populaire skigebieden zijn Porte du Soleil, Aletsch, Crans-Montana-Aminona, 4 Vallées, Matterhorn Ski Safari en Saastal.
